Recruiter Training: Online Threats, Swamis and Promiscuity
As of the time of this writing there are somewhere between 10-20,000 online threats associated with recruiter training, maybe more. I should know. Not only have I been responsible for developing my own ingenious countermeasures to threats like Threat 1158: “Hey Buddy, can you spare a dime-a-dozen Boolean string for my [fill in the blank] search?”, and Threat 3823: “I tweet therefore I am #socialrecruiting,” but I may have authored a few threats of my own. The 2010 Inc 500 | 5000 has been released with the fastest growing privately held Minnesota companies. Minnesota had been very consistent with the number of companies in the Inc 500/5000 but this year, noticeably fewer companies. From 106-166 to 83. I had a laugh regarding a web inquiry one of my customers received recently. The inquiry was the first one the company had received “in 8 months.” When the salesperson emailed the contact to set up a call, the contact said he was a victim of identity theft and had not submitted the inquiry. SEO tip for your LinkedIn Websites
A common SEO recommendation is to include "Website" links on your LinkedIn page. Unfortunately LinkedIn has recently succumbed to pressure from Google and made most of those links "no-follow" to search engine spiders to stop abuses from SEO "spammers." Why is it so many recruitment companies do not ask for references?
Asking for a reference is so, so easy to do! So why do the majority of recruitment companies avoid or forget to do it? Are they scared of what they might hear? I am always of the opinion that I would rather know, than not know “what the person is really like”, “is their CV 100% correct”, “can they actually do the job for which they have applied”. 2010 U.S. And Minnesota IT Jobs See Increase In Q3 To Continue In Q4
While the Minnesota and U.S. IT employment did not get hit as hard as the 2001-2003 recession no doubt many jobs were lost. Here in Minnesota we saw a noticeable tone change to the positive this spring, specifically March 2010. By noticeable I mean it went from “sucks” to “eh, the light at the end of the tunnel may not be a freight train coming at us after all.” Yeah, it was that bad but we have seen a significant number of jobs posted and filled in Q2 and Q3 and expect this to continue... Starbucks UK Career site - what do you know!
As you may know I am a BIG fan of Starbucks and have been waiting with anticipation to see their new UK career site. It is now of course as to be expected - in my opinion very nice aesthetically and engaging. But, already there have been comments on the ATS (Taleo) integration and how "ugly" it is. But, does it actually matter? I agree that it is hardly a seamless, nicely branded transition but to be honest very few if any ATS integrations are.
