Online Recruitment for 2009
I was forwarded this press release from Enhance Media for their “Year ahead Conference” which should be of interest with some major speakers, in particular Facebook. They were probably the buzz in recruitment this year, with all the application trying to take advantage of social networking and the promise of a new way to get candidates, personally I would be interested if any worked! Online Recruitment 2009 - The Year Ahead Conference 29th January 2009, Royal Geographical Society This... |

Pink is the New Black
I know I have mentioned it before and so too have a few of my fellow bloggers, how disappointing it is that there are so few recruitment companies that blog given the huge benefits, mind you I am convinced it would highlight the agencies that know nothing about their markets! So I was pleased to find a recruitment company, which hasn’t been picked up by the mainstream, partly because they are based in Ireland and partly because they are working their market, which at the end of the day is the... |

About to Get Fired!
I am just a little late with this post, but I was still keen to post as it was an interesting read, well so long as you are not on the end of the scenarios below. The article is from Rebecca at www.theladders.co.uk, still I she has missed a couple of signs, not been invited to the pub at lunch time and conversations suddenly stopping as you walk in to the canteen, oh what horrible times! Jobs in Jeopardy: TheLadders.co.uk Checklist for At-Risk Executives Executive Careers Site Maps Out Warning... |

FreshMinds are a Breath of Fresh Air!
When you think of all the recruitment companies out there in the UK, so few really seem to try to be different. So when I saw FreshMinds post a video on you tube promoting their company, I was keen to give them a mention as one of the few that are really making an effort. One thing I do do is subscribe to receive any video that is posted on the internet with the word recruitment in the text, you wouldn’t believe the rubbish I get and on top of this the only companies that seem to use video... |

Join the Aggregates industry!
Although this article is pushing my normal boundaries, I thought it was worth a mention partly because it was a little unusual in its approach, but mainly because I thought it was interesting from a marketing point of view. Now like us all I get many emails, most of which is spam. This caught my eye as it was a recruitment pitch from an institution, rather than a company direct. What was strange was it was so unrelated I had to find out more. The association was in fact the NSSGA the National... |

Job Interview the Monty Python Way
Over the years I have posted the odd Monty Python video, so as they have now launched there own video channel on YouTube called….wait for it….The Monty Python Channel I thought it was a great excuse to embed their interview video at Exchange and Mart, these days of course it would be eBay!! Enjoy below the legally available video.. Related posts:Monty Python Silly Job Interview I cannot believe it is Friday again, I just have...Recruitment the Monty Python way A Double whammy for... |

Recruitment Juice Needs You
OK in case you haven’t heard Recruitment Juice are finally moving to their next production and having watched their first series, I for one will be keen to see their second. If you have not watched their training videos on New Business, I did a review here and if the quality stays the same then I am in no doubt it will be rated as high as the John Cleese training videos, which I watched when I first got into sales. So rather than re word their press release I have copied it below, but before... |

Company WhistleBlowers
After reading the news on Nevres Kernal in regards to her whistle blowing on Haringey Council, which if acted upon would surely have saved the life of Baby P. As a result I wanted to look a little deeper, with the BBC website lacking in information about the Whistle Blower in question. What transpires is that Nevres was discredited and suspended at the time when she made her thoughts know, which makes you wonder why anyone would want to be a whistle blower in the first place, with a virtual guarantee... |

How to Resign from the Birmingham Mail
It can only happen on Youtube I suppose, well this news journalist from the Birmingham Mail, Adam Smith in a rather drunken stupor, while apparently writing up an article on the Barack Obama election win or should I say plagiarising the BBC, decides to hand in his notice while being interviewed. I wonder if he is regretting what he said the day after and judging by the hits, I suspect his boss has found out by now or will the BBC decide to sue him. My advice, never resign while drunk Video below... |

Free CV database and Free Vacancy Advertising!
Well not a bad offer, but a real one none the less. Although Smuz had a mention in one of the recruiter magazines, I some how managed to miss the article. So lucky for me that Paul Pickthone the MD decided to make me aware of his product via a comment made on the post about SimplyHired. What made me want to get in touch with Paul was because his product is uniquely different and works in tandem with SimplyHired and other similar sites. The huge difference is that his has a free cv database and... |

Recruitment Charity Event
As Bas Van de Haterd is a commentator here on this blog and has his own blog for the Dutch recruiters, I was more than happy to give his recruitment charity event a mention. It isn’t taking place in the UK, but is none the less a worthy event. This was his email to me which covers most of what you will need to know. Even though it’s not British, could you give some attention on your blog to the following: www.recruitmentcharity.nl I’m organizing a charity event on the 12th of... |

Two handy applications
Yesterday I came across a couple of really handy applications, particularly for those of us who have two computers and if you like me decide to work from home in the evening, only to realise one key graphic or a document is on the office computer, then Syncplicity or Logmein could be for you. I know I have gone on about backing up data in the past, which is one of the reasons I loved Arithon but these two handy application are for those of you not using Arithon or in my case, everything else! To... |

Sinking Ship!
I like to think that I am the eternal optimist, but you know when things are getting bad when you read this kind of report from the Telegraph, which I came across the other day entitled “Recession will send 1 Million Immigrant workers home” The article goes on to say that it is probably the worst exodus since world war 1, and here in Spain the government are paying for immigrant workers to go home, saying that it will be cheaper in the long term. Today I picked up a TV report on Youtube... |

SimplyHired have hit our shores
Well Simply Hired has finally launched in the UK, not wanting to give too much of a head start to Indeed of course. For those who do not know SimplyHired is an aggregator of Jobboards or any jobs that can be found by an xml feed and is an area that appears to be neglected by recruitment companies, particularly by those looking for free advertising. I have to admit it is an area I have not tested, but when it comes to aggregators these are two of the biggest players. So how do they make their money?... |

Which Recruitment Agency
Last week while trying to recover from the flu I was contacted by Andy Goodwin of Agency Seeker asking for a link from Recruitment Views, at the time I was in no condition to do anything until now. I get many requests, but I thought I would give them a mention as I felt it was a good tool for recruiters and an alternative to Agency Central. Where I believe Agency Seeker wins is in its ease of use and a modern clean friendly design, but where they stand out is by giving you more for your advertise... |

Graduate Recruitment Video
I came across this relatively amusing graduate recruitment video for Nabarro a UK Legal company. Although one could get the wrong idea and you wouldn’t necessarily know they were looking, but if you ventured further to check out the company, you would find a number of opportunities. When you follow on from the video and visit their website, you see a well put together career site, to such a high standard it would challenge the choices for the controversial “National Online Recruitment... |

Dont Panic Mr Mainwaring!
As the hype continues in regards to the recession, I was happy to read on Recruiter about Daulton Construction Personnel, who are bucking the trend and are actually growing at their fastest rate in 14 years. I wanted to give this a mention as I know some recruiters are struggling particularly within the construction and finance sectors at the moment. As I said back in July “Thank heavens for the Recession” you can succeed in difficult trading times. The key is to be aware of it but... |

Part Time Work for Mums and Dads
I have been meaning to write this article for sometime, mind you it is the only way I am going to empty my inbox! I didn’t want to delete them as I felt they were quite unique and an interesting niche, so I wanted to give them a mention. They are a relatively new company called ten2two, the name is based on the ideal hours for a mum, who wants to carry on working once the kids are old enough to go to school or nursery. Although I am not a mum, but a proud father I can relate to this on a... |

Rec2Rec hits a new low!
What can I say here, I have a good mind to leave it to you to comment! As a professional recruiter would you contact this guy, probably not. I cannot help feel it has to be a hoax with the video made from his unmade bedroom. Is he working from his Mum and Dads place or from some student diggs, well who knows….. Still I have posted the video below, how long it will last before Sam Small sees the error in his ways. yes I managed to track you down Sam, you even have a profile on Linkedin, so... |

Iphone for Recruitment
OK I maybe a bit behind the times when it comes to getting my email on my mobile, compounded by the fact I was waiting for the new iphone 3g I can finally say after nearly 2 months of pestering the local store, I finally have my hands on my new web enabled phone. After about two weeks of playing with it I thought it was time to make a few comments on how it has changed my life, that may sound a little over the top but true. For the first time in quite a few years I finally find that I am not chained... |
